Interstate route · I-95 corridor · both directions
About 1,050 miles of I-95: the shortest seaboard lane on our atlas, connecting two cities that trade households on job cycles: north for the new position, south when a Washington career becomes a Florida retirement. Get a planning range in 60 seconds; your exact price goes in writing after a 15-minute video walkthrough.

Northbound leg
The DMV is three moving markets in a trench coat: District rowhouses with reservable curb signs, Virginia tower corridors that run on COIs, and Maryland suburbs where the truck just backs into a driveway. Your address decides which move you're having.
SignsEmergency No Parking signs. The District reserves curb space for your truck, posted ahead through the city. The rowhouse move-day essential.
± 1,050 mi ÷ 280 TO 500 MI A DAY = 3 TO 4 DAYS
Inside the District, the move runs on paperwork you can actually get. Washington lets you reserve the curb outside a rowhouse with Emergency No Parking signs, posted ahead of your date, and on a Capitol Hill or Shaw block where parking never opens up on its own, those signs are the difference between a crew working at your stoop and a long-carry fee. Get them early; that’s the whole trick.
Cross the river and the rules change. Arlington’s Rosslyn-Ballston corridor, Alexandria, and the newer District neighborhoods (Navy Yard, NoMa, the Wharf) are tower country: freight-elevator reservations, move-in windows, and certificates of insurance that management wants days ahead. Out in Bethesda, Silver Spring, or Fairfax, none of it applies; the truck meets a driveway and the accessorial column stays empty. Three jurisdictions, three playbooks. The survey call sorts yours in fifteen minutes.
Timing: Washington moves on job cycles, the big summer rotation and the new-year wave of new positions, and the national May-to-September peak prices this leg accordingly. If a start date is driving your move, book as soon as the offer is signed; if the date flexes, the team can explore more scheduling options.
One more Washington-specific note, stated carefully because it matters: if you’re a service member arranging your own move, a PPM, we’re a licensed interstate carrier you can hire directly for it. We are not part of the government’s contracted household-goods program, and any mover who implies otherwise without being in that system is telling you a story.

Southbound leg
Southbound on this lane is the retirement run: careers end in Washington on a schedule, and Florida, with winter sun and no state income tax, both matters of public record, collects a steady share of them, plus everyone whose next posting simply points south.
4 to 8 wksRealistic booking lead time for an October-to-April move date. Winter is this lane's southbound peak, the reverse of the national calendar.
The winter window applies here as it does across the Northeast corridor: October through April, peaking after the holidays, with four to eight weeks of realistic booking lead time. But this leg has a second, steadier clock: Washington careers end on federal and political calendars, not weather, so the retirement and reassignment flow runs year-round underneath the seasonal one. Practically, that means southbound capacity here is rarely empty and rarely desperate. Book when your date firms up, and tell us if a government schedule is the thing driving it.
The pickup end runs in reverse of everything the northbound leg describes: signs for a rowhouse curb, a COI and freight elevator for an Arlington tower, a plain driveway in the Maryland suburbs.

What the estimate is actually made of

Miami ⇄ Washington, D.C.
For 500 to 700 cubic feet, the Florida-origin transportation component is $3,050.00 to $3,900.00. A 300 to 500 CF shipment is $2,100.00 to $3,050.00; 1,000 to 1,500 CF is $5,250.00 to $7,400.00. These are progressive source-tariff examples, excluding fuel, packing, access, storage and any route supplement. Moves into Florida add 15% to transportation. Build an itemized plan so the team can review the final price.
Three to four days is typical. This is the shortest of our seaboard lanes, a straight I-95 run with no mountain or weather belt in the way most of the year. Consolidated shipments share the truck, so you get a delivery window before we load rather than a promised date.
Through the city, and it actually works. The District lets you reserve curb space with Emergency No Parking signs posted ahead of your move date. On a Capitol Hill or Columbia Heights block where the alternative is carrying furniture from two blocks away, those signs are the best money on the whole move. Arlington, Alexandria, and most Maryland suburbs have their own versions or don't need one at all.
In the high-rise parts of the region, almost certainly. Arlington, Alexandria, Navy Yard, NoMa, and the 14th Street corridor run on condo and apartment towers that want a COI from the mover before the freight elevator is reserved, and management offices want it days ahead. Rowhouses and the Maryland suburbs skip all of this. Send the building's requirements as soon as you have them.
In one specific, honest way: if you're doing a Personally Procured Move (a PPM, where you arrange your own carrier and the government reimburses you), we're a licensed interstate carrier you can hire directly, and this corridor connects two of the biggest military regions in the country. What we are not is part of the government's contracted household-goods program; if your move is running through the TMO's standard channel, we're not in that system and won't pretend otherwise.
Washington turns over on job cycles, new positions around the new year and the big summer rotation, and the national May-to-September peak prices both directions accordingly. Southbound also picks up a real retiree flow: leaving a D.C. career for Florida is common enough that the route has its own rhythm, and Florida's lack of a state income tax is a matter of public record in that math. If your dates flex, the team can explore more scheduling options.

Choose dates early so we can coordinate the details
A flexible date gives your consultant more scheduling options. Building reservations, access windows and delivery requirements are reviewed with your route.
The published source tariff has no approved seasonal markup. Selecting a month does not add a price premium.
