FSVL FIELD GUIDE · INVENTORY & ESTIMATES
A moving inventory that holds up at pickup.
Count the pieces. Choose the sizes. Include the boxes. A useful estimate starts with what will actually pass through the door.
Build my itemized move planWalk the rooms once, then check the places you forgot.
Start at one end of the home and record each room before moving on. Add beds, dressers, tables and seating separately. A “two-bedroom home” describes the property; it does not tell a moving crew how many pieces need to be protected, carried and loaded.
Open closets and cabinets before counting boxes. Check the balcony, garage, shed and storage unit. Make one list for belongings that are moving and a separate list for donations, sales and items staying behind. Keep packed boxes in the moving count even if the furniture has already been entered.
- Bedroom: bed components, mattress, dresser, nightstands, wardrobe and packed clothing.
- Living and dining: sofa sections, chairs, tables, bookcases, media furniture and packed contents.
- Kitchen and utility: appliances that travel, small appliances and packed dishes.
- Outside the main rooms: patio furniture, tools, bikes, nursery equipment and storage bins.
In the itemized planner, room totals stay beside the truck illustration. Use “My items” for a final sweep through what you selected.
Cubic feet describe space, not the number of rooms.
One cubic foot is the space inside a cube measuring one foot on each side. The inventory assigns a planning volume to each listed item. Quantity multiplies that volume: twenty medium linen boxes at 3 cu ft each contribute 60 cu ft to the shipment.
For an item without a listed volume, measure its outside length, width and height in inches. Multiply those measurements and divide by 1,728 to convert to cubic feet. Enter the measurements in the planner; the move team verifies them before completing the price. Protection, disassembly and how pieces fit together still require a survey.
| Belonging | Quantity | Volume |
|---|---|---|
| Sofa, 3 Seat | 1 | 50 cu ft |
| Bed, Queen (With Mattress) | 1 | 65 cu ft |
| Dining Table | 1 | 30 cu ft |
| Box, Linen/Medium (3.0 Cu. Ft) | 20 | 60 cu ft |
| Total | 205 cu ft |
The truck picture compares selected volume with a configurable planning truck. It does not prove that the load meets a truck’s payload limit. The team checks weight and loading fit separately.
A sectional and a three-seat sofa are different entries.
Choose the closest type inside each furniture family, then set its quantity. The catalog assigns 50 cu ft to a three-seat sofa and 120 cu ft to a four-piece sectional. Selecting the smaller entry for the larger piece understates the shipment by 70 cu ft before boxes or protection are considered.
Check whether an entry includes the mattress or names only a frame, headboard or box spring. Count each physical component once. If the assembled bed entry already includes the mattress, entering a second mattress for the same bed would count it twice. Use the notes field when the closest option still does not describe the piece.
Unusual dimensions, a safe, piano, aquarium or oversized furniture deserve an early review. The specialty item planning page explains the questions to raise before moving day.
Record the route from the room to the truck.
The street address is only the beginning. Record stair flights, the approximate door-to-truck distance and whether an elevator is available at pickup and delivery. An elevator reservation is a separate detail from an elevator merely existing in the building.
Ask the building manager about the loading dock, approved hours, parking, protective materials and any required insurance documents. If a large truck cannot reach the property, flag it for the team. Access charges that have not been confirmed remain review items; the calculation does not silently price them at zero.
If you need crew packing or storage between homes, record those services before requesting the estimate. Moves from or within Florida qualify for up to 14 free days in our Florida warehouse. Enter exact days; storage after the allowance and handling still need confirmed terms. Storage in other states can be arranged, with no automatic free allowance.
Read each price tier as part of the job.
Local crew planning uses three movers and a truck. The first five working hours use the first hourly rate, the next five use the second, and hours above ten use the third. Finishing within an earlier tier means later hours are never added. Our aim is to prepare the work, keep the crew moving and complete the move efficiently while caring for the belongings.
For an interstate shipment, the volume tiers are also cumulative. A 600 cu ft Florida-to-New York example has 300 cu ft at $7, the next 200 at $4.75 and the remaining 100 at $4.25: $3,475 in transportation before fuel and any other applicable services. It is a calculation example, not a complete quote.
Moving from another state into Florida uses a 15% inbound adjustment to the corresponding outbound tariff. Some destination rows overlap, and the team must confirm the applicable route before issuing the complete estimate. Your saved proposal shows the tariff version and the inventory used to calculate it.
Use the review to close the gaps.
Before accepting the final move agreement, compare the inventory with the belongings that will leave the home. Confirm quantities, packing, building access, dates and any storage interval. Ask what remains included, what needs an additional service and how changes are recorded.
Each saved revision retains its own inventory and calculation. If the scope changes, request a revised proposal so the office, crew and customer work from the same record. A submitted inventory request does not reserve the date or book the move.
Can I get an accurate estimate without counting every item?
A broad home-size range can help with early planning. An itemized proposal needs the actual belongings and service details. Enter uncertain items with measurements and notes, then have the team review them.
Does the truck animation show exactly how the load will fit?
It shows the relationship between listed volume and planning capacity. Packing orientation, protection, loading access and payload require a separate crew review.
What happens after I submit the plan?
The inventory, route, contact details and estimate request are saved for the move team. The team resolves the outstanding details and prepares the proposal from that record. Email status is tracked separately from saving the request.
Storage and your customer area
Which moves qualify for up to 14 free storage days?
Moves departing Florida or taking place within Florida qualify for up to 14 free days in our Florida warehouse. Select the company warehouse in Florida and record the exact number of days. Availability and dates need team confirmation.
Are storage after 14 days and warehouse handling free?
No automatic allowance covers those services. Storage beyond the included days needs a confirmed rate. Loading, unloading, warehouse handling and redelivery are reviewed separately and recorded in the estimate.
Can I request storage in another state?
Yes. Tell the team which state, belongings and dates you need. Storage in other states is arranged and priced for the move; it is not included in the Florida warehouse free allowance. Inbound moves from another state into Florida do not automatically qualify either.
How do I follow the plan after submitting it?
Save the private move link after the request is received. Your customer area shows the move details, estimate revisions, storage request and messages. Request a change there when the scope changes; the team reviews it before issuing a new proposal. An estimate approval does not reserve a pickup slot.
Open my existing private move area using the link or access key saved after submission. Keep the link private; it gives access to the move details.
